5 kid-friendly and fun places to eat in Lisbon

We've all been there: cranky kids, tired parents, and a rumbling in everyone's tummy after a long journey or a busy day exploring Lisbon. Sometimes, a familiar, delicious or fun meal is just what the doctor ordered!

Here are a few suggestions for family-friendly restaurants in Lisbon that offer tasty or fun options for both kids and grown-ups, all with a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.

Some of these addresses have been picked for their decor, some for the food and others for both. None of those are typical Portuguese food. Parents have to do what parents have to do.

1. Slurp up some fun at ramen spots

Two addresses with slightly different vibes and food.
Ramen Shifu offers delicious ramen bowls, perfect for a comforting and satisfying meal. The flavourful broth and variety of noodle options will keep everyone happy and the anime decor is simply just fun: Pokemon, Dragon Ball, etc. It feels like you are in Japan rather than Lisbon. The robot cat serving the dishes is the highlight for the kids.
Vegan options. Two locations in Lisbon. Save them in Google Maps (Marquês, Estefânia and Saldanha)

Buga Ramen is another similar place with lots of tasty Asian options (not just Ramen). The place, the decor and drinks menu are fun. There is also a robot cat bringing the dishes. The food is not the best Asian food in town but it is fun for the kids.
Three locations in Lisbon. Save them in Google Maps (Expo, Rossio, Picoas) .

2. Unleash your inner Hero at World of Heroes

This one is for all mini superheroes! Let me be straight: you won’t be going there for the amazing food. But it is a fun place for the kids with comic book theme. It looks like an old nightclub has been transformed into a restaurant with superhero decor. There is even a superhero walking around, taking pictures and being awesome. Burgers and pizzas for everyone! It's a fun and interactive dining experience that keeps them entertained while you relax and enjoy your meal. Better book ahead as it is popular.

3. All aboard for fun at the Railroad Caffe

Choo choo! This train-themed restaurant is a delight for train enthusiasts of all ages. The playful décor and kid-friendly menu make it a fun place for a family lunch or a cake and drink. The drinks and some of the dishes are brought to your table by a small toy train. There is also a small play area. That is all the fun you need!

4. Step back in time at the Fifties Dinner

Take a trip down memory lane at The Fifties Diner. This classic American-style diner offers up juicy burgers, milkshakes, and all the comfort food favourites that parents and kids alike will enjoy. The decor is just as fun as the food. My son loved the paper cars his meal came in.

Book ahead if you come for dinner. Save it on Google Maps.

5. Pizza perfection at Pizzaria Lisboa

No family vacation is complete without delicious pizza! Even in Portugal. If you want to please the kids but still eat good food, this is it. Pizzaria Lisboa - Bairro do Avillez offers high-quality pizzas made with fresh ingredients in a casual and welcoming setting. There is no fancy decor or toys but the pizzas are just delicious. The restaurant is just one of four in a building owned by Avillez, the Portuguese Michelin-starred chef. It's a crowd-pleaser for sure!
